A church bought a building — and opened the doors.
The Galena Commons exists because faith, health, and finances are three of the things every person needs help with at some point — and a town like Galena deserves a place that brings them together.

How the Commons came to be.
Common Table Church (formerly The Journey Fellowship) purchased the property at 70 N Walnut Street with a simple conviction: a church building should be a gift to the village, not a private space for one congregation. From the start, the doors were open — for worship, yes, but also for healing, for gathering, for the everyday work of being neighbors.
Today the Commons houses two churches, a yoga studio, independent counselors, and a tax practice. Each tenant runs their own work. The Commons is simply the shared roof — the place where faith, health, and finances meet under one address.

Pastor, Enrolled Agent, neighbor.
The Commons is co-stewarded by Jerry Funston — a pastor of thirty-plus years who serves as an Enrolled Agent through Common Tax & Bookkeeping, and Megan Funston, who serves as building administrator.
Jerry and Meg are celebrating thirty years of marriage this summer. They have five kids, three already grown. Their core operating values — integrity, compassion, wisdom — show up in how every venture under this roof is run.
Three convictions that shape everything.
Integrity
We do what we say we'll do, charge what we say we'll charge, and tell the truth even when it's inconvenient. No bait-and-switch. No fine print designed to trick you.
Compassion
People come to a place like the Commons because something in their life is hard — taxes are overwhelming, faith feels distant, the body or mind needs care. We meet that honestly.
Wisdom
Thirty years of pastoral work taught us that quick answers rarely help. We take time to understand what's actually going on before we recommend a path forward.
