Pricing · Common Tax & Bookkeeping

Honest, upfront pricing — built to grow with you.

Common Tax keeps pricing simple, transparent, and built around real life. Most clients work with us through a monthly subscription — predictable for both of us, and the most cost-effective way to keep your finances steady year-round. We also handle one-off work for clients who just need a single thing solved.

Questions, answered honestly

What if I'm behind on my bookkeeping or taxes?

That's a common starting point, not a problem. We'll talk through where things stand on a discovery call, agree on a catch-up scope and timeline, and quote any catch-up work separately from your monthly subscription. No judgment — just a clear path forward.

Do you specialize in any particular kinds of clients?

Yes. We work especially well with pastors and clergy, new and growing small businesses, S-Corp owners, and people navigating life transitions — divorce, retirement, a sudden inheritance, the launch of something new. If your situation feels too complicated to explain in a tax software flow, you're probably a good fit.

For clergy specifically: we offer a dedicated Ministry Rate at $35/mo founder pricing — well below market for clergy specialists. It's our way of giving back to ministry.

How does virtual service actually work?

You get a secure document portal, scheduled calls over video, and clear written summaries after every meeting. Documents move through encrypted channels — never email attachments. Most clients find virtual service more convenient than an in-person office, and we serve clients nationally.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes — that's the point. The plans are designed to grow with you. As your situation changes (you start a side business, form an S-Corp, hire your first employee), we move you up. If life simplifies, we move you down. No friction either way.

Is there an annual commitment, or is it month-to-month?

Month-to-month. No annual contract required. We'd rather earn your continued business than lock you in. That said, founding member rates are locked for life as long as you stay a subscriber in good standing — so there's a real incentive to stay.

How does billing work?

Billing is handled through Intuit — the same platform we use for your tax work. Your monthly subscription starts after the discovery call and onboarding. You'll receive a billing confirmation and can update payment details at any time. No surprises, no hidden fees.

What if I get an IRS notice mid-year?

It's covered, on every plan. You forward it to us through the portal, we respond on your behalf, and you stay informed without losing sleep. IRS representation is one of the most underused benefits of working with an Enrolled Agent — and it's why people in transition often choose us first.

What does "Founding Member" pricing actually mean?

You lock in your founder rate for as long as you stay on a subscription. If standard rates increase later, you keep your founder rate. Founder spots are limited to the first cohort of monthly subscribers, and once that cohort is full, founder pricing is permanently closed.

What if I just need one thing done — not a subscription?

We handle one-off projects too: a single tax return, a back-tax cleanup, an IRS letter response, an amendment. One-off work has starting-at prices and a free 15-minute quote. See by-the-job pricing → Most clients who start one-off eventually move to a subscription because the advisory conversations end up paying for themselves.
